Sangkalikasan and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in cooperation with Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and Grande Island Resort, with the participation of The Lighthouse Marina Resort Legacy Foundation (LMRLF), and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), held two day Free Coral Transplantation Training last August 7 and 8, 2015 at the Grande Island Resort. Mr. Jose Rodriguez Project Leader, Ms. A Yza Lagahit (Zamboanga Project) & Mr. Elpidio Oraer III, the Project Development Officer of Sangkalikasan took the lead in the workshop. The general objective of this project is to undertake coral restoration in Subic Bay, that will help improve competitiveness of underwater tourism and enhancement of coral reef resources for sustainable and responsible fisheries because the coral reef ecosystem in the country is in poor condition. Participants came from various departments and organizations, such as Sangkalikasan, NEMOCO, Ecology Group, (aetas), Ecology Center, Diver Center & The Lighthouse Marina Resort Legacy Foundation (LMRLF). Let us go forward in the protection of coral reefs and efforts to restore the rainforest of the seas. See you on September 19, 2015 for the International Coastal Cleanup!
