Every year we rally the community towards a common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering our coastline in celebration of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day which happens every 3rd Saturday of September.
In 2017, the Philippines ranked #1 with the most number of volunteers. On the contrary, the Philippines is ranked #3 as the biggest dumper of plastics in the ocean. Here in Subic Bay, Olonggapo and Zambales, we have seen the amount of garbage that has reached our beaches coming from the rivers and waterways. But the root of the problem is people’s behaviour and to win this battle to change people's minds and hearts is a matter of lifting levels of awareness. Below are the data results in Zambales, Olongapo and Subic Bay Freeport Zone of this year's participation to the International Coastal Cleanup day held last September 22.
