Subic Bay is known for its lush virgin forest and pristine beaches. Subic Bay Freeport is the perfect destination to be one with nature. On a wider scale, Department of Tourism (DOT) is positioning the Philippines as a world-class destination with ecotourism as one of its guiding principles.
The importance of ecotourism lies on its ability to help preserve the ecological balance of a growing economic zone and ecotourism site. In order to achieve this you will need to have the support of not just the business owners but also the entire community. The growth of ICC Zambales from merely 30 people back in 2009, to almost 90,000 volunteers last 2015 goes to show that there are people out there who cares. The problem is not about technology nor is it the laws and policies. The real problem is the way people think. We have turned our backs on nature's warning signs. We are totally living in disharmony with the planet and we are paying the price. People need to be aware of the global forces that affect their lives and that will increasingly affect their lives in the future. We believe that our actions are based on our level of awareness. To win this battle to change people's minds and hearts is actually a matter of lifting levels of awareness. ICCPH aims to inspire others to take action and stop the exploitation of our environment. It wants to be a platform for change and solutions. As we celebrate Arbor Day with the 1,239 volunteers last June 25, we are hopeful that together we will be capable of changing this world for the better. Through the support of SBMA Ecology and SBMA Tourism together with the Subic Bay Hotels, Attractions and Tourism Stakeholders Visitors Board, the ICC Zambales will be coming up with ICC Tours to further promote responsible tourism at the same time spread the love for our environment. The tree planting program will be part of the tour package. This particular program will not only give you a great time while giving back to mother nature, but it will also help our Aeta friends with their livelihood. We have identified several activities for the ICC Zamables tours but we are also willing to collaborate with other tour operators nationwide in creating this program that not only supports DOT’s ecotourism campaign but also establish a replicable and sustainable programs that enhances the lives of people and succeeding generations.
