The Lighthouse Marina Resort Legacy Foundation and International Coastal Cleanup Zambales support projects that share a common goal in finding ways to help solve problems concerning ocean trash.
The group organized a trip to Sampaloc Cove, slated last May 18 and 22, where they toured participants and provided activities to reconnect with nature. Their itinerary included swimming in the waterfalls, a refreshing yoga session with instructor and renowned surfer Cory Wills, and a chance for them to cultivate their appreciation for their surroundings. Among the attendees was Engr. Eric Raymundo, (one of the partners of ICCZ), and he was able to share his tips to the tribe living in the area, on how to avoid health problems caused by smoking and burning plastics. Their day was capped off by trailer presentation of the film to their audience who has the same vision for a more sustainable environment. Water Under My Feet, (directed by Martin Rey Aviles and produced by Tamara Benitez-Aviles and Zedrick Avecilla), is a film about ‘exploration of what four shapers and four surfers can do together to make a radical statement about their love for surfing and the environment’. It will give an insider’s perspective on the craft of shaping, spew adventures of surfers, and hopefully spark more aspiring surfers in the Philippines.
