The International Coastal Cleanup Zambales (ICCZ) with co-partner Engr. Eric Raymundo held a sustainability program at Sampaloc Cove to share knowledge and educate the community on how they can protect their own environment, the only source of their livelihood.
The highlight of the program was about Sustainable Bamboo Harvesting and Chemical Free Preservation. Engr. Raymundo discussed about Bamboo Grass and Bamboo Clump Management and Rehabilitation as bamboo grass is one of the source of livelihood of the tribe living in the area of Sampaloc Cove. Furthermore, part of the ICCZ and Lighthouse Marina Resort Legacy Foundation’s (LMRLF) commitment to social responsibility is to provide awareness on how a community can sustain a healthier environment, thus gain more profit from their resources. The organization also gave tips on upcycling materials that can be useful for them. In addition, they provided a griller, made of metal frames and some upcycled materials that can be rented by tourists visiting for picnics. Pastor Mau Rivera and Mrs. Shirley Tan gave some encouragements through prayers and parables in order to uplift the tribe’s motivation to take good care of Mother Nature, the only foundation of our life system.
